| | Model of the car: | Caravan SE | | | General comments: | In the spring of 1989 I purchased the Caravan with 8000 miles. I have done routine maintenance, and changed the water pump and timing belt at ~75k miles and at ~160k miles(3.0l V6 Mitsubishi). Three speed transmission failed at ~140k miles, replaced that with one I picked up at a salvage yard for $400. This has been the only major expense in 170k miles and 13 years of driving. I installed a class II hitch and have hauled trailers without any problem. | | | What things have gone wrong with the car: | Seats are heavy, and it usually takes two people to move these in | | | Previous car: | Easier to drive than a '71 VW Bus, but does not attract as much attention. |
