Dodge Grand Caravan LE 3.0
| | Model of the car: | Dodge Grand Caravan LE 3.0 | | | General comments: | I bought this van 4 years ago with 160,000 miles on it. It now has 220,000 miles on it and is still going strong. I have no complaints about it. The transmission problems that everyone is experienceing is with the 4 speed over- drive transmission. The key is to get one without the overdrive. This requires buying a 3.0 6cyl or the 4cyl engine. I love my van and I plan on it going another 200,000 miles. I have a friend who has one with 500,000 miles, and still going. No tranny problems.
This van owes me nothing I was envolved in an accident with it 6 months after I bought it which totaled out the van. I got a $3,500 settlement out of the other driver's insurance company. I bought the van back for a hundred dollars and repaired it with used parts myself for $500.00. | | | What things have gone wrong with the car: | I did have to fix the air conditioner, but it didn't work when I bought it. Bad hoses common problems with Crysler products of that era. Should of been recalled, but were not. I knew I was going to have to fix this when I bought it.
I also replaced the fuel pump recently and a water pump a couple of years ago.
Both seats could fold down making it easier to haul things. Not enough cargo space when third row seat is in place. I have to keep third seat in my garage most of the time, so I have room for all my stuff. Why couldn't it just fold down like the Honda's do? | | | Previous car: | Dodge Spirit 140,000 miles
Plymouth Turismo 250,00 miles
Chevy S-10 140,000 miles
