Dodge Caravan
| | Model of the car: | Dodge Caravan | | | General comments: | I got the Dodge Grand Caravan SE model...Guess what, a month later after the warranty expired the transmission failed...more than 700$ canadian to fix it at the dealer...The service people are pretty much aware of the fact that the Chrysler van carry a bad transmission...Actually the service guy, when we went to see him a few month before to sevice the brakes and air condition, was hard pressed to sell us the extended warranty...1500$Can for two more years...Thought about it, but then I thought I would switch in my van like I usually do every 3 years...Well was it a mistake? Not sure, since the transmission fix "only" cost me 700$(CAN)...But insult to injury, since i got the transmission fixed, i get awfull gas mileage (is it due to the harsh canadian winter, i'm not sure...my old cadillac gets better mileage...i think) and, moreover, sluggish performance. I think about trading it for a new one...the 2001 models carry an extended 5years | | | What things have gone wrong with the car: | Definetly the transmission...Weak engine for its size (3.3L) | | | Previous car: | Dodge Grand Caravan 94: 98 improved in ride quality, better looks...but did not improve in transmission reliability...even my 94 had problems but at least it was covered under warranty and i traded in for a new one, once it's warranty was about to expiry. |
