| ||General comments:||See above for mechanical problems. Van was 1 month or so away from running out of warranty, so we decided to replace it. With all the mechanical problems we were afraid to own it past the warranty. We purchased the Honda Odyssey because of it's high reliability rating. I had never owned American car prior to the Dodge caravan, never will do it again. My 1990 Mazda 323 had 160,000 miles on it without a single major repair. My 1988 Subaru Justy went 120,000 miles without a single major repair. Dodge has been a major disappointment. Another big disappointment was resale value of the caravan. The market is saturated with them and apparently word has gotten out among car dealers that this car is a mechanical dog. Trade in values were very low. If you buy a dodge caravan my advice is to get the 100,000 mile warranty you'll need it! It will help when you try to sell the van also if it's transferrable!|
| ||What things have gone wrong with the car:||All 4 tires had to be replaced at 15,000 miles. Frozen calipars at 15,000 miles replaced under warranty. Blown head gasket at 30,000 miles. Leakingrear main seal at 30,000 miles. Squeeling brakes checked repeatedly by dealer and they claim could find no problem. Passenger side sliding door had to be re-alligned and re-set at 20,000 miles. Also, this was a 4 cylinder van and when it was full of stuff it had no power at all.|
| ||Previous car:||Just bought a honda odyssey and it's too new to really compare. I like it so far.|
