Dodge Caravan

 Model of the car:Dodge Caravan
General comments:Paid $25,000. I would not recommend this vehicle. Honda and Toyota are making much better products for similar money and overall quality of these imports is higher.
What things have gone wrong with the car:Overall quaility of engineering and quality control is average at best. Transmission failure and weakness has still not been corrected from earlier years and continues to be a problem. Have owned one other Caravan and suffered similar fate....dealer assured me that this problem was rectified and as it turns out it hasn't been. Headlights are weak and almost unsafe. Minor defects such as loose fittings and body parts, cruise control defects, leaking windows and wind noise are the mechanical side of the story. The worst part however, is the service and attitude of service reps. This company is NOT CUSTOMER FOCUSED, and the hidden warranties reflect Chryslers lack of loyalty to their customers. Check out the numerous web site complaints of paint and transmission defects where owners have had to take Chrysler to court to get a fair settlement. My family owns three Chrysler vans and we purchased these at about the same time. Similar complaints in all three. Three different dealerships have all provided poor service and attitude. Would not buy another.
Previous car:Ford Windstar - Windstar much better to drive, quality of finish higher, quieter and a lot more power, but the Windstar had engine head gasket problems at 90K.
